BREAKING: Cambodia Denies Firing Projectiles into Laos, Accuses Thailand of Disinformation

Phnom Penh, July 26, 2025 – The Cambodian Ministry of National Defense has categorically rejected accusations from Thailand that Cambodian forces deliberately launched projectiles into Laotian territory, labeling the claim as "false and malicious."

In a statement released today, LTG Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry, strongly condemned the allegation, describing it as a baseless attempt to undermine Cambodia’s reputation.

The statement accused the Thai military of “fabricating lies to justify its unprovoked aggression against Cambodia and now seeking to manipulate international opinion.” It further asserted that the "irresponsible rhetoric is not only patently false but dangerously inflammatory, particularly as the Lao authorities have neither concluded their investigation nor issued any such claim."

Cambodia demanded that Thailand immediately cease its "deliberate disinformation campaign," which it claims is an effort to deflect attention from Thailand’s alleged violations of international law.

The Ministry emphasized that "unlike Thailand, Cambodia has not and will not violate the sovereignty of any neighboring state, including the Lao People’s Democratic Republic." Cambodia reiterated its respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations and offered its full cooperation to the Lao People’s Army to investigate the incident “in a responsible, professional, and transparent manner.”
